DNP 7000 Foundations of Doctoral Nursing Practice

Course Overview
DNP 7000 establishes the philosophical, theoretical, and professional foundations essential for doctoral-level nursing practice. Students critically examine the evolution of the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, distinguishing it from the research-focused PhD and situating it within the broader landscape of advanced nursing roles. The course explores nursing epistemology, metaparadigm concepts, and major practice theories as frameworks for clinical inquiry and decision-making. Students will engage with scholarship on practice transformation, reflective leadership, and the ethical responsibilities inherent in doctoral nursing roles.
