Choose a leadership style. Based on that leadership style, how will you attempt to address ONE of the following scenarios?


1. You are the chief nursing officer (CNO) of a well-established county hospital. The previous CNO was very authoritarian, which resulted in a high turnover of many administrative nursing staff. There is low morale among the nurses, and they have been very resistant to change in the past. Choose and present two different leadership styles.
How will you attempt to change the culture of the institution?
How will you relay your vision for the institution?

2. You are the lead nurse practitioner in a busy family practice. You notice that one of your FNPs is often rude to the front desk staff. Another FNP has refused to orient a new FNP, and her patient satisfaction scores have been declining. Overall, you are concerned about lateral violence in the workplace. Choose and present two different leadership styles.
How will you address these issues within the facility?
How will you evaluate improvement?
What actions would you take if there is no improvement?
You are an assistant dean of a school of nursing, and your NCLEX scores have demonstrated an increasing decline over the past three cycles of scores. Choose and present two different leadership styles; you will present a plan for improving scores.
